May and Raleigh meet in 1940 on an eastbound train carrying the bodies of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Nathaneal West. Raleigh is unable to enlist in the Army due to a medical condition and is searching for purpose. Principled May wishes to be a missionary. An exploration of how love softens and changes us, this romance follows two young people as they find themselves and each other in a time of war.

This is a story about a fresh start emerging out of a dark time in history. Last Train to Nibroc is set during the early years of WWII (1940-1943); two young people find each other as their lives are turned upside down. For us on the creative team, we too are emerging tentatively out of a dark time--a worldwide pandemic--and are finding reasons to laugh and celebrate and find a fresh start in this play in the middle of it all. Thank you for joining us and participating in this new start with us. As with May and Raleigh, may we allow life’s challenges and griefs to bring us closer to each other. May we embrace life’s possibilities in the midst of uncertainty.
